The SCS900 software is a site measurement tool that streamlines earthworks and surface finishing operations. It enables construction contractors to measure material volumes, monitor grades and laid material thicknesses, and to perform various site layout tasks such as point, line, and surface stakeout, in addition to survey measurement of points, lines, and surfaces.
Start up and set up of the sophisticated GNSS and total station technology is quick and easy. The software manages data for multiple project sites, single large project sites, and large sites that have been divided into zones. When a field engineer, grade checker, or surveyor opens a work order, the software opens all the data files needed to complete that work order. Because the software delivers results immediately, informed decisions can be made in the field.
The SCS900 software can also be used to check site grading operations that have been performed using a machine control system, such as a Trimble GCS900 grade control system. If your organization does not have a 3D machine control system, the system
provides site control, grade checking, progress volumes, and stakeout capabilities to facilitate earthmoving operations.
The field engineer can quantify progress, check data, and set out the information needed to keep the machines moving. The SCS900 system tracks activities at each site and keeps a continuous record of all results. Related data is stored, together, as a permanent construction record and is output as a TXT or DXF file. Back at the office, the software delivers comprehensive operation analysis data.
Advanced Measurement Module for its industry-leading Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software. The new module extends Trimble’s construction field software so contractors can efficiently conduct measurement tasks throughout the lifecycle of a site—from site reconnaissance to progress measurements to as-builts. New functionality can also improve the safety of measurement tasks in inaccessible areas and make the measured data more valuable to contractors for faster problem solving.
Using current Trimble Heavy and Highway controllers, SCS900 version 2.70 and the new Advanced Measurement Module take site measurement to the next level. Now site surveyors, grade checkers, site engineers, and supervisors can conduct site reconnaissance, progress measurements, and recording of as-built information using the same industry-leading software platform they already use for their daily site tasks.
The combined solution of Trimble SCS900 version 2.70 and the Advanced Measurement Module is optimized to run on the Trimble Tablet field computer and can significantly increase the work flow efficiency of site measurement tasks. The Advanced Measurement Module plus the Trimble Tablet’s built-in camera and GPS can record site issues and send the information, photograph and location back to the office via synchronization with the Trimble Connected Community, an information management system for communication, collaboration, and greater construction site efficiency.
The ability to add photographs, notes, and attributes to measurement data increases the richness of the data for those using it back in the office. More usable data enables action to be taken immediately to remedy a situation in the most efficient manner, often eliminating paperwork while improving the productivity of the contractor.
Contractors can also realize significant savings by eliminating the time and cost of physically driving data updates to and from the field. Using the two-way data capability of SCS900 and the Trimble Tablet reduces delays and rework associated with using outdated information and synching data only at the end of the work day. Reduced delays and rework increase the likelihood that projects finish on time and under budget.
Improved Safety and Accessibility on the Jobsite
Trimble SCS900 and the new Advanced Measurement Module improve the safety and efficiency of site measurement tasks by allowing users to accurately measure points, lines, and volumes without putting an operator into dangerous or inaccessible locations. A user can also implement offset lines or points to record information in locations where it was previously impossible to accurately measure with a prism or GNSS rover.
Improvements to the scanning speed and range of Trimble SPS total stations are leveraged by SCS900 version 2.70 and make it up to four times faster than before to collect points on a stockpile, in a quarry, or in other dangerous locations.
The Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software version 2.70 and the Advanced Measurement Module are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 through Trimble’s worldwide Heavy and Highway Construction Distribution Channel.
