The MC6-Ex essentially combines several instruments into one handheld unit:
- Meter – measurement and signal monitoring
- Calibrator – measurement, sourcing and simulation

The safety documentation specifies that the MC6-Ex must use its approved RB-796-Ex rechargeable battery pack, and battery charging must be performed outside hazardous areas using the specified Beamex charger.

Calibration workflow
A particularly useful feature is the documenting calibration capability. The MC6-Ex can guide the technician through calibration procedures, calculate errors and pass/fail results, and transfer calibration information to Beamex calibration-management software. This supports a paperless calibration workflow.
It is therefore suited to applications such as oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical processing, pharmaceutical and other process plants where instrumentation must be calibrated in potentially explosive areas.
