Specifications vary by scanning mode; for example, blue laser provides the finest 0.05 mm point spacing, while infrared structured light is intended for larger fields of view and rapid scanning.
What makes the MT interesting
1. Three scanning technologies in one scanner
The blue laser mode is suited to detailed scanning, while invisible IR laser and IR structured light are useful for larger objects and situations where visible laser projection is undesirable.
2. Markerless workflow
The MT supports hybrid alignment using geometry, texture and markers, allowing many objects to be scanned with few or no reference targets.
3. Wireless operation
The scanner itself is USB-connected, but adding the 3DeVOK Airgo wireless handle enables wireless scanning and allows the live scan to be monitored on a phone or tablet. This is particularly useful for larger objects and outdoor work.
4. Professional accuracy
The manufacturer specifies basic accuracy of up to 0.04 mm. This is a laboratory/theoretical specification, so real-world accuracy depends on object size, scanning mode, alignment, surface characteristics and operating conditions.
Typical applications
- Reverse engineering — parts, housings, mechanical components
- Automotive — body panels, interiors, customized parts
- 3D inspection & measurement
- 3D printing
- Product/design development
- Cultural heritage and archaeology
- Human-body digitization
- Large-object scanning
The included 3DeVOK Studio software provides point-cloud generation, hybrid alignment and scan-processing functions.
MT vs. MT Gen2
There is now also a 3DeVOK MT Gen2. It adds a fourth light source and is specified at up to 0.03 mm accuracy, compared with 0.04 mm for the original MT. The Gen2 also adds parallel and single blue laser modes alongside cross-line blue laser and IR structured light.
Bottom line: the original 3DeVOK MT is a fairly versatile professional handheld scanner, particularly attractive if you need both fine-detail blue-laser scanning and larger-area IR scanning, with wireless operation available through Airgo.
